To combine the rustic theme of the restaurants and tactile feel of timber, we used 9mm thick prime oak for the menu panels which provided a hearty weight yet remained light enough to pass around. Sized at a manageable A3, we tested both laser engraving the menu and printing directly on to the oak, using DTM (direct to media) UV printing. To enhance the colours of the oak and add a layer of protection we used a clear oil to finish the menus.
